Reviews · Sub-Zero refrigeration

What stands behind our score

Stars compress a visit into one figure; they are not the repair record itself. Here we set out the origin of our score, why our service pages carry a second one, and which details deserve your attention in any review before a stranger opens a Sub-Zero unit built into your cabinetry.

5.0 of 5 tallied across 187 reviews

A score with a paper trail

Directly beneath the opening paragraph sits the company score for Palisades Appliance Care. It came across untouched from our previous website, along with the review count it rests on. Nobody rounded it, refreshed it or padded it when the pages were rewritten, and nobody here edits it by hand. If the score changes, it will be because the underlying record changed.

You will notice a second figure on our repair pages, such as refrigerator repair and the pages for each place we cover. That one rates the repair service itself rather than the company as a whole. The previous site published the pair side by side, each counting the identical set of reviews, and we left them exactly that way instead of blending them into one neater figure.

Missing for now is a wall of quotations. Our old pages carried a handful of comments from Palisades homeowners. We are holding those back until we have confirmed that they may be shown again on the new site, because a review is someone's own words about their own home, and it should not be republished on assumption. Until that is settled, the number carries the weight alone, and everything below is a guide to judging repair feedback with a skeptical eye, ours among it.

The terms every reviewed visit was booked under, so you can weigh a comment against what was actually offered:

Visit fee
$89 per visit Billed once for each trip to your home, even when the technician opens up several cold units on that trip; every cent of it is subtracted from the final invoice once you approve the fix.
Repair cost
Named after diagnosis Your repair quote comes only after the fault is traced, and no part goes in without your go-ahead.
Telephone
Calls taken 24/7 Calls go through to our line around the clock, on holidays as well as ordinary days.
House calls
Daily, 8 AM–6 PM House calls run Monday through Sunday, starting at 8 AM and ending by 6 PM.
Localities
11 places Malibu, Topanga, Castellammare, Pacific Palisades, Riviera, Brentwood, Santa Monica, Mar Vista, Westwood, Century City and Beverly Hills.
Standing
Independent Palisades Appliance Care works on its own account as a local repair outfit. Sub-Zero Group, Inc. and the other makers mentioned on these pages neither own, sponsor nor endorse it; their names appear here only to identify the equipment we service.

Reading a review like a refrigeration tech

Praise that only says the technician was friendly tells you very little about whether the cold came back. These are the details that separate a useful review of a Sub-Zero repair from a pleasant one.

What a review of cold-appliance work should show
Detail in the reviewWhy it mattersWhat a thin review says instead
The symptom, in plain wordsA warm fresh-food section, frost on a freezer wall and a silent ice maker have very different causesIt was broken, now it works
The cause the technician namedShows someone diagnosed the fault instead of swapping parts until something helpedThey fixed it fast
Whether the fix was explained before work beganTells you the homeowner agreed to a named repair, not a surprise billNothing about the conversation at all
Whether the unit was checked after the repairCold storage can look fine for an hour and drift by morning; a check before leaving mattersGreat service, five stars
How the call fee was handledConfirms the visit charge was stated up front and credited as promisedReasonable price
How the kitchen was leftBuilt-in units sit inside finished cabinetry and stone; care with panels and floors is part of the jobNo mention of the house

Where do the Palisades Appliance Care ratings come from?

Both figures moved over intact from our previous website and share one review count. You see the company score here, on the home page and with our contact details; the repair service score appears on each service and area page. Neither has been edited or inflated since.

Two scores, two questions

The old site published the two figures in separate places, attached to separate things, and we kept that arrangement.

Specimen A

Company score

  • Attached to the business itself in the page data of the old site, and carried over unchanged
  • Printed on this reviews page, the home page and our contact sheet
  • Counts the same full set of reviews as the second figure

Specimen B

Repair service score

  • Attached to the repair service as a listed offering on the old site, and carried over unchanged
  • Shown on each repair page, each area page and the home page
  • Counts the same set of reviews as the company score

Both come from the same set of reviews, and both are shown exactly as the old site had them. We have not re-labelled what either one measures, and we show both rather than the more flattering one.

What makes a Sub-Zero repair company worth trusting?

Clear answers given over the phone, before any van is dispatched: the visit charge, whether it is deducted from the repair, and a promise that you learn the fault and its cost ahead of any work. After that, look for reviews naming actual faults and post-repair checks. Trustworthy shops never dodge those questions.

Seven things to pin down before anyone drives out

Put them to us or to a competitor. Plain replies to each tell you more than a rating ever could.

  • Is the trip charge billed once per household, or separately for every appliance?
  • Is that trip charge subtracted from the bill once I approve the work?
  • Do I learn the diagnosis and its cost while I can still say no?
  • Are built-in and panel-ready Sub-Zero columns routine for the person coming, or only freestanding fridges?
  • Does the shop present itself honestly as independent, or hint at a factory connection it cannot prove?
  • If a component must be ordered, how is the return visit arranged?
  • Will the unit be checked for temperature and normal running before the technician leaves?

Stars that get read the wrong way

  • MisidentifiedTop marks mean the shop handles every appliance with a plug.

Det.A rating reflects the jobs people actually reviewed. Our core is Sub-Zero cold storage; for anything else, ask on the phone first so you are not booking a visit for work outside what we do day to day.

  • MisidentifiedOne harsh review means the repair was botched.

Det.Read what it describes. A complaint about waiting for a part is different from a complaint that the cooling never came back. The second tells you far more about the work.

  • MisidentifiedMore reviews always means a better technician.

Det.A large count proves the phone has been ringing. Careful work shows up elsewhere: in reviews describing the symptom, the fault and the check afterward.

Questions people ask about our ratings

Why can't I read individual customer comments here?
A few neighbors' comments ran on our old pages. They stay offline until we confirm permission to show them again. We would rather show a bare score than put words on the page without that confirmation.
Why does the score on your service pages differ from this one?
This page shows the company score; the service pages show the score for the repair service. Both were published that way on the earlier site, from the same reviews, and we kept them as they were instead of picking one.
Can I tell you how my visit went?
Please do. Ring (310) 928-9768 and tell us plainly, praise or complaint alike. If something about the repair does not seem right, that is the call we most want to receive, because it tells us more than any star count.
Do your reviews cover brands other than Sub-Zero?
The score is not broken down by brand. Most of our work is Sub-Zero refrigeration, and the repair pages are built around it. If your appliance is another make, ask when you call so you know before anyone drives out.
Does a good rating change what the visit costs?
Not at all. Each trip costs $89 for the household, whether the technician inspects one Sub-Zero or four, and that sum is deducted once you approve a repair. Repair cost depends on the diagnosis; see how we price work for the factors.

Which details make an appliance repair review genuinely useful?

Four things: the symptom, the fault the technician identified, whether cost was agreed in advance, and whether the appliance was tested before departure. A note about how the kitchen was treated adds value. Reviews carrying those details are evidence; vague praise is just a mood.
